We've introduced support for custom SMTP server configuration in GPS-Trace Console, that allows you to send Forguard notifications to your customers.
Previously, all outgoing email notifications were sent exclusively through our built-in mail system with standard mail content.
With the new functionality, you can now configure your own SMTP server settings directly in the GPS-Trace Console.
Besides personalized sender address you may also configure some additional fields that will be shown in the mail content.
What should be configured on your side
The SMTP configuration requires the following parameters:
- SMTP host
- Port
- Username and password authentication
- TLS/SSL encryption settings
- Sender address configuration
Additional settings currently included:
- Signature (e.g. your company name)
- Mail to field (e.g. same as sender email or custom address)
If you have added Application name, Logo for your company and Custom domain, this information will also be available in the mail content by default.
Once configured, the system will use the provided SMTP server to send Forguard notifications to your customers.
Additionally, we have added a guide for configuring several popular SMTP providers. You may find it in GPS-Trace Console in the Mail System tab.
What is the benefit of this feature
With this feature you receive more customized mail content for your customers.
Here is how it may looks like:
If your company uses its own mail server and it supports third-party SMTP connection, you will be able to control the work of the server from your side and monitor its state.
The default email delivery mechanism remains available, and if you do not want to use your SMTP server anymore, you may just clear the configuration and the default mail system will be used, but without your customized fields.
In case you have some ideas or feature requests related to this or any other functionality of our solutions, please contact us via email or through the support chat in GPS-Trace Console.
