Recently, we introduced the DEMO version of our Asset Tracking solution, and now it’s time to dive into some specific use cases showcased in the demo.
We’ve created three real-world scenarios to illustrate how our asset tracking solution can be applied. These cases showcase temperature-sensitive cargo monitoring, construction equipment tracking, and shipping container logistics.
You might notice that all our demo devices are located in Lithuania, where our main office is based. It’s a great way to see our solution in action while getting a virtual tour of Lithuania.
For added convenience, each case’s devices are organized into three separate lists using the Filter Saving and Favorite Lists options. You can quickly find these lists on the main Devices page, providing easy access and a clear overview for each case.
Let’s explore each case in more detail!
Picture this:
You’re managing a fleet of refrigerated trucks, each carrying temperature-sensitive cargo, whether it’s fresh produce, medicine, or high-end perishables.
For this purpose, we have REF Truck MVQ284 — in the demo version, this is a GPS device (gateway) installed on the truck. Additionally, this truck is equipped with sensors to monitor temperature both inside and outside. Inside the truck, onboard temperature sensors keep track of the climate around your cargo, while external sensors record outside conditions.
In the data sent by the GPS device (gateway) REF Truck MVQ284, information from the sensors is provided as parameters — sensor.temperature.in and sensor.temperature.out.
To make tracking these critical data points easier, we’ve introduced the ability to create separate assets directly from parameters. For this setup, we created individual assets from the parameters, named Onboard Temperature and Outside Temperature, allowing for easier monitoring.
The REF Truck MVQ284 embarks from the Seskine geofence — let’s imagine this as the main hub from which cargo is distributed. It then moves through key delivery zones, like Shopping Mall #2 and Shopping Mall #3, and returns to the starting point.
It is necessary to ensure that temperatures stay just right, both inside and out. With both sensors grouped under Refrigerator Sensors (Tag tab), you get a live view of all data, ensuring your products arrive in perfect condition.
This setup lets you deliver with confidence, knowing that you’re not only following the route but actively protecting the integrity of your cargo every mile of the way.
Imagine your scenario:
You’re coordinating deliveries between construction sites across the city.
Picture a GPS tracker mounted on the truck — in the demo, this is represented by the Delivery Truck (gateway). The truck transports essential equipment, including a shredder, tamping machine, and concrete Mixer. Each piece of equipment has a BLE tag attached, which the GPS tracker detects. In the demo, each item is represented as an individual asset allowing for precise management :
This equipment is required at three locations, each equipped with its own GPS tracker.
In the demo, these are represented as static gateways:
Each delivery point is also located within its own geofence — Zirmunu District geofence, Shopping Mall #2 geofence, and Gariunu District warehouse geofence.
The truck arrives at each location with the equipment, remains on-site for the time needed to complete tasks, and then moves on to the next location with the equipment.
With this setup, you’re monitoring each piece of equipment as it moves through each site. You can verify how long each machine stays at each site, helping to optimize resource allocation and avoid delays.
For a detailed activity log, you can go to the Events tab, select the By Device filter, and choose the desired device from the list. This view provides comprehensive insights into activities such as geofence entries/exits, start and stop times, and more.
This case demonstrates how an asset tracking solution can simplify site operations, improve project timelines, and ensure that each piece of equipment is exactly where it’s needed, when it’s needed.
Picture the scene:
You’re managing container logistics across multiple regions, with containers arriving by sea from various countries into Klaipeda Port before being delivered to specific warehouses. Each container starts its journey at Klaipeda Port and has a specific destination — some heading to Kaunas, others to Shauliai, and a few to Panevezys.
Each container is equipped with a BLE tag, which in the demo is created as an individual asset with specific names: Container #1 20', Container #2 20', Container #3 40', Container #4 20', Container #5 40', Container #6 20', Container #7 20', Container #8 40', and Container #9 20'.
These assets make it easier to manage and monitor each container individually.
At each delivery location, a stationary GPS tracker (gateway) is installed.
In the demo, these gateways with names represent locations: Klaipeda Port, Shauliai, Kaunas, and Panevezys.
As soon as the stationary tracker at a delivery location “sees” the BLE tag of the required container, it confirms that the container has arrived at the correct destination.
With this approach, you’re not just managing containers — you’re optimizing your entire logistics chain. From reducing costs and avoiding delays to tracking each container’s journey in real time, this setup brings complete transparency and efficiency to container logistics.
These real-world scenarios give you a preview of how our asset tracking demo can boost efficiency, protect assets, and support better decision-making across various industries.
